Designer Anita Boatright
Anita is a native Kansas who has lived in Topeka for over 30 years. As a stay at home mom who enjoyed cross stitching, she turned her hobby into a thriving business. "The Sunflower Seed" opened it's doors in Topeka on October 1st, 1999. After a couple years of running the retail shop her creative energy was ready to take off. She began designing her own patterns at that point and has created over 150 designs that are being distributed globally by Hoffman Distributing and Norden Crafts Ltd. She also attends the yearly Nashville Needlework Market to showcase her new designs and purchase merchandise for the shop.
Many of Anita's designs are related to her home state of Kansas. The "Kansas Christmas" series has been very popular not only for those living "here" but also for those that have moved away. It reminds them that "there's no place like home"! There are designs with a message, designs for holidays, and designs for the seasons. There's just a wide array to choose from!
Anita will continue to design patterns and run her shop as long as it remains a "fun thing to do". She considers herself extremely fortunate to be able to work at something she truly loves doing! It's hard to call it a "job"!
Anita wishes to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to all who purchase her designs with hopes that you enjoy every stitch you make!
